Basic Uses/Related Uses

  • A gasket installed between the sub-floor and stud framing wood and metal and floor sheathing to reduce airborne and impact sound transmission through floors and walls, reduce floor vibration and reduce squeaks.
  • Single and multi-family residential and commercial wood and metal construction.
  • Used in metal and wood framing to dampen sound transmission between adjoining rooms.
  • Light commercial applications, for tenant build-outs.
  • Sound barrier in specialized construction where acoustical controls are needed and sound damping is critical.
  • Sound barrier in multi-family construction.
  • Many applications in wood and metal framing.
  • Thermal break in outside walls.

Product Attributes and Characteristics

  • Low density, viscoelastic material
  • Non bio-degradable

Selection Criteria

  • Reduction in sound transmission through floors and walls.
  • Reduction in floor squeaks in wood and metal applications.
  • Resistant to oxidation, weathering, mold and mildew
  • Non-hazardous, non-toxic
  • The addition of IntegrityTM Gasket will not affect the load-bearing capability of the floor or wall system.

Applicable Standards and Related References

  • ASTM C-518 - Test Method for Steady State Heat Flux Measurements and Thermal Transmission Properties by means of the Heat Flow Meter Apparatus.
  • ASTM D-1667 - Specification for Flexible Cellular Materials - Vinyl Chloride Polymers and Copolymers (Closed Cell Form).
  • ASTM E-2240 - Test Method for Rubber Property - Durometer Hardness
  • ASTM E-84 - Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials.
  • ASTM E-90 - Test Method for Laboratory Measurement of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss of Building Partitions.

Warranty

  • Manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects in material quality.

Limitations

  • Must be used with fastener-only method of sheathing attachment; do not use with sub-floor adhesives.
  • Product can be applied to wet joists, however time must be allowed for adhesive to take hold. Alternatively, sheathing must be laid into place rather than slid into place.
  • Metal must be dry prior to gasket application.

Safety Precautions

  • Product may be slippery, when wet in a horizontal application.
